DanicaDanica Sue Patrick, an American ex-professional racer. Danica Sue Patrick is among the top-performing American woman open-wheel racing driver. Her win in Indy Japan 300 in 2008 was her first major win. In 1998, she quit high school and moved to England in order to pursue her career. Patrick raced in Formula Vauxhall, Formula Ford before she returned to the United States in 2001. She raced in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races in 2002 for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick then raced in the Toyota Atlantic Series for the two years that followed. She was third in the championship standings in the 2004 season, where she became first woman to earn a spot in the series. She was named the Rookie of the Year in both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series. She continued to grow by joining Rahal Letterman Racing (2006) as well as Andretti Green Racing (2007). Patrick was sixth overall in the drivers' standings in 2008 after her Japan victory. She then improved to place fifth in the standings for drivers the following season. It was her highest performance in the Indianapolis 500 and a career-high for Patrick. Patrick's overall performances slowed during the 2010 season, but she achieved two second-place finishes at oval tracks before leaving IndyCar after the 2011 season to focus solely on stock car racing.
